Innovation You Can Touch: Laempe Reports Positive Results from Its First Open Week

Barleben/Schopfheim, July 1, 2026 – For four days (June 23–26), Laempe’s headquarters in Meitzendorf served as a meeting place for customers, partners, policymakers, and researchers: With its first Open Week, Laempe Mössner Sinto GmbH has established a new event format that combines technology, knowledge transfer, and personal exchange. About 300 visitors from across Europe, the U.S., Turkey, and India took the opportunity to experience innovations along the entire core manufacturing process chain up close.

With 16 stations and numerous live demonstrations, the Open Week at Laempe’s production site focused on innovations that are actively shaping the transformation of the foundry industry. There was particularly strong interest in the new 3D printing technology centered on the L3D-200 printer, which had been awarded the Hugo Junkers Prize by the state of Saxony-Anhalt just a few days earlier. Visitors were able to see the system in live operation and discuss applications, potential, and future uses with the development team. Two L3D-200 units were on display at the site; both have already been sold.

L3D-200 – one of the most powerful industrial 3D printers in the world

The L3D-200, which Laempe developed for the industrial mass production of sand cores and sand molds, is one of the most powerful solutions of its kind worldwide. The printer enables highly automated and cost-effective production of complex cores and molds for modern cast components. Its speed, process stability, and scalability make the system particularly attractive to industrial users, suppliers, and foundries. Such systems are already in use today at the BMW Group, among others. “Open Week demonstrated what Laempe stands for: innovative strength, strong partnerships, and a team that turns ideas into solutions. Personal interaction with our customers and partners is just as important to us as the development of new technologies,” says Managing Director André Klimm.

The program was complemented by a wide range of additional solutions in the areas of automation, service and spare parts, retrofitting, digitalization, and traditional core manufacturing. On display were various core shooting machines in nearly all sizes and for different process technologies, intended for customers worldwide. In addition, Laempe presented automation solutions for global customer projects, including those for wind turbine manufacturer Enercon and Schuberth, a leading manufacturer of motorcycle helmets. Various digitalization solutions for process monitoring, data analysis, and efficiency improvement rounded out the program.

Open Week as a Bridge Between Industry, Politics, and Partners

Another focus was on dialogue between customers, policymakers, and the next generation. At the official opening, Laempe welcomed representatives from the worlds of politics and business. State Secretary Stefanie Pötzsch (Ministry of Economic Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt) opened the Open Week public day on June 23 with a clear message about Saxony-Anhalt as an industrial hub. She praised the role of the family-owned company as a driver of innovation and an internationally successful machine manufacturer: “Saxony-Anhalt needs companies that not only respond to existing markets but also actively shape technological developments. Today, Laempe impressively demonstrates how engineering expertise and innovative strength lead to international competitiveness. Companies like this are important anchors of our economic structure and strengthen the region’s appeal for investment, skilled workers, and new technologies.”

The remaining days leading up to the event’s conclusion on June 26 were entirely dedicated to customer engagement. Around 300 visitors from around the world, including Laempe’s international sales partners, made their way to Meitzendorf. With this new event format, Laempe aims not only to showcase innovations but also to bring them to life through direct dialogue. On the final day of the event, Laempe also welcomed students from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The event concluded with a joint celebration with the staff – as a token of appreciation for the tremendous dedication that made this first Open Week possible.

The combination of live technology, expert discussions, and personal exchanges was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors and partners. The company therefore views its first Open Week as a success: “The Open Week was far more than just a showcase. It brought people together, sparked new ideas, and demonstrated how we can shape the future of the foundry industry together,” summarizes Andreas Mössner, managing partner of Laempe Mössner Sinto GmbH.
